Ministries, Missions and Ways to Serve!

Feed the Hungry

Four times a year, every year, Son Light Bible Church partners with First Reformed Church in downtown Lancaster to prepare and distribute meals for those in need in our Lancaster City community. Check our calendar of events page for upcoming dates.

This Ministry is a compassionate outreach dedicated to serving those in need by providing nutritious meals and offering hope. Rooted in Christ’s call to care for the vulnerable, this ministry seeks to meet both physical and spiritual needs, ensuring that no one in our community goes hungry. Through food distributions, shared meals, and heartfelt connections, volunteers come together to extend love, dignity, and encouragement to individuals and families facing hardship. This ministry is more than just feeding people—it’s about building relationships, restoring hope, and reflecting God’s boundless grace.

"Change" for Veterans

Tunnel to Towers Foundation:

Collecting change for veterans and first responders is a simple yet impactful way to support those who have served but now struggle with housing instability. Every July until the end of December, we place a donation jar in the lobby of the church to gather small contributions that add up to meaningful assistance. These funds often go toward shelters, healthcare, job training, and other vital resources that help veterans regain stability and independence. Even the smallest donation can make a big difference in providing hope and support to those who once defended their country.

Bible Ministry

Bible ministry is a powerful outreach effort that brings the Word of God directly to people in city communities. Volunteers distribute Bibles in public spaces, offering encouragement, prayer, and conversation to those seeking hope and spiritual guidance. These ministries often focus on reaching individuals in need—such as the homeless, struggling families, and those searching for purpose—sharing the message of grace and redemption. By placing Scripture into the hands of others, they aim to inspire faith and transformation in the heart of Lancaster city. This ministry is every other Sunday, weather permitting.

1 Can at a Time

**1 Can at a Time Ministry** is a simple yet powerful initiative dedicated to fighting hunger in local communities. By encouraging individuals to donate just one canned item at a time—whether during grocery runs, church gatherings, or community events—this ministry steadily builds a supply of nutritious food for those in need. Every small act of giving adds up, creating a ripple effect of compassion and support. Through consistency and collective effort, **1 Can at a Time** helps ensure that no one in the community goes hungry.

  • Christian Education Leaders: Help lead/facilitate adult classroom discussions.

Men's Group: The first Saturday of every month, the Men's group, led by Pastor Mike, meets at the church at 8:00AM. Join a dynamic men's Bible study where faith meets the world around us. In this group, we explore Scripture alongside current events, seeking wisdom, truth, and practical application in today’s culture. Through meaningful discussions and fellowship, we strengthen our faith, challenge perspectives, and encourage one another in living out biblical principles in daily life.

Women's Bible Study: In the Fall, women meet at the church weekly to do a deep dive into Scripture. Led by Wendy Nolt, the Women's Bible Study offers a unique space for spiritual growth, deep fellowship, and mutual encouragement. It provides an opportunity for women to explore Scripture together, applying its wisdom to their daily lives. Through meaningful discussions, prayer, and shared experiences, participants build lasting friendships and strengthen their faith. These studies foster a sense of support, helping women navigate life’s challenges with biblical truths and practical insights. Whether focusing on specific themes like grace, leadership, or identity in Christ, a women's Bible study cultivates connection, wisdom, and spiritual renewal.
